Golez proposal - Construct Organic PhotoVoltaic (OPV) Solar Power roofing for the entire length of the kilometers long light rail system of Metro Manila in the Philippines

Golez proposal - Construct Organic PhotoVoltaic (OPV) Solar Power roofing for the entire length of the kilometers long light rail system of Metro Manila in the Philippines
The Metro Manila light rail mass transport system is kilometers long. An OPV roofing along its length represents several square kilometres of area to harvest the power of the sun. The power generated can be used to supplement the electricity coming from the electric utility that powers the light rail system. The tracks will also be lit up using efficient led lights that will also benefit the  adjacent neighborhood.

Pros:
1. Very efficient harnessing of sun power
2. Makes the government (the light rail system is run by the government) an inspiration for green technology which the private sector can emulate
Cons:
1. Very substantial initial cost that would add to project cost.
2. Some sectors might complain about the esthetics of this undertaking.
3. Possible damage due to typhoon since Metro Manila is located in the typhoon belt.

1 comment:

  1. Correct. Congress leadership of both houses should already study the proposal. The DBM, OP, DOTC should also conduct study. DPWH and MMDA should also come up with research studies. How about private companies??
