CHINA DEPLOYS ANTI-SHIP MISSILES IN SOUTH CHINA SEA

Golez: Chinese anti ship missiles in the South China Sea - This is China’s response to the US Navy freedom of navigation patrols within 12 nautical miles of the Paracels. This is a very alarming development. China will for sure install similar missiles in their artificial islands especially Fiery Cross Reef, Subi Reef and Mischief Reef. The YJ-62 anti ship missile has a range of 400 kilometers. If deployed in those islands, those missiles can hit ships within the West Philippine Sea off Palawan. Those missiles, if based in Mischief Reef, which is 250 kilometers from Palawan, can target a ship within 100 kilometers east of Puerto Princesa.

Today, it is reported by the Warfare Worldwide twitter account that China has deployed YJ-62 anti-ship missiles to the Woody Island of the South China Sea.
The YJ-62 carries a 210 kilogram warhead with a speed of Mach 0.6-0.8, with a range of up to 400 km. The missile also has an inertial guidance system using GPS and BeiDou data, and an active terminal sensor.
However, the South China Sea has become a place of tension between the Chinese and the west.  Several analysts suggested that the US has been backing and influencing the Chinese neighbors to stand against China in order to implement the US policy to contain China.
Every year $5.3 trillion of trade passes through the South China Sea, $1.2 trillion is U.S. trade. And more than half of the world’s annual merchant fleet tonnage and a third of all maritime traffic worldwide travel through Chinese waters.
