Visit Japanese Ship DDH Ise
On the invitation of the Japanese Embassy, I had a tour of the Japanese Ship DDH Ise, a Hyuga
Class Helicopter Destroyer. The ship arrived this morning, presently docked in Subic for a 3-day visit. The ship participated in the recently concluded Komodo naval exercise in Indonesian waters.
The ship is called a destroyer but it looks more like a carrie with a length of more than 600 feet. It can accommodate Harriers and even F-35 Lightning II. Next to the new Izumo, also classified as a Helicopter Destroyer, the Hyuga class is the second largest ship built for the Japanese Navy.
