Phone 5S release dates, specs keep pouring in

Phone 5S release dates, specs keep pouring in

It's up to Apple now to top or debunk the flood of iPhone 5S rumors, but many of the rumors seem credible.

Rendering of a champagne-colored iPhone 5S: It will be interesting to see if Apple still has some big surprises in store that analysts and the media haven't covered yet.

We have iPhone 5S release dates, colors, and specs. Did I leave anything out?
Oh yeah, I forget to mention that they're all just rumors. But there's little left to the imagination these days when Apple rolls out a new product.
Apple is widely expected to hold an event unveiling the new iPhone on September 10. Japan's Nikkei said sales of the device will begin September 20 in that country, and then Chinese newspapers chimed in with a release date there of late November (due to China's verification process).
Here's what we've heard about prominent specs:
  • Camera: Probably the most important feature for the consumer is a better camera. The latest speculation on the camera claims it will get a larger f/2.0 aperture (that would match the HTC One) with dual LED flash. If accurate, that aperture would be significantly larger than the iPhone 5's. That means more light gets through, improving image quality and low-light performance.
  • Fingerprint scanner/reader in the home button: That technology is likely coming from AuthenTec, a fingerprint sensor technology company that Apple acquired last year. The larger point is the iPhone 5S may mainstream biometric technology, improving electronic payments and making it easier to get music and sensitive data from the cloud.
  • Chips: A 128GB flash storage option is the freshest speculation. That seems like overkill for most consumers but then 16GB seemed like a lot when the iPhone 3G came out. An updated A7 processor is also expected. Remember, the iPhone 4S got the new A5 processor when it was released in October 2011.
  • New 3G/4G standard support: Versions of the 5S (and 5C) may support China's 4G TDD-LTE standard. That could mean a huge boost in market penetration in China (and global market share) for Apple. (That support may also include China's TD-SCDMA.)
It's almost needless to mention at this point that there may be a gold iPhone 5S along with the standard black and white versions. The important point is that it most likely won't be a garish gold but a more subtle champagne color.
I think that about covers it -- for now.

Fingerprint scanner/reader in the home button"
More room for stuff to break in the near future.  I do want a "champagne" gold just to tell people I bought "Le New iphone"

So Apples main innovation is changing the phone color and changing the icon colors in ios7.   fail

iPhone 5s is going to be just like the 5 ... Like the 4s is just like the 4!!! they may add some new fatures to the phone, but it truly is stepping up its game with the new IOS 7 ... The camera more likely will be better like it says and maybe have the dual LED flash but other then that iphone 5s will remain the same as the 5 just a little improvement! iPhone will aslo be coming out with a cheaper display of the iphone 5 in all plastic. it will hvae mostly the same features of the iphone 5 but i heard it will we just a tad wider then it. the iphone 5C will also display at the bottom the same as the ipod touch 5 but be in a phone form. iPhone 5C will also come in more colors for a cheaper price then the 5s or 6 which ever unleashes.

larger screen or im switching to android.nuff said.

@rkirbyn enjoy android then! I just got my htc one a month ago from my 4s. its a great device.

@ERCHINATOR @rkirbyn I don't know. I have an old iPhone 4 and had a chance to buy the new Motorola cheap - the guy didn't want it - so I bought it. Meh. Don't like it very much. To me, Android is kinda lame and I sure don't see any of this claimed "innovation" Android users like to talk about so much. Android seems clunky compared to iOS. Though I do like the flash of some of the icons, like those on the first screen, once you get past that prettiness there's a lot of clutter. I hate the keyboard. As soon as the 5S comes out I will be back with Apple again.

What continues to astound me is the phenomena of the months endlessly rehashing the same rumors.  Endlessly. Although I'm not a part of the cult, they have been masterful in building up the hype to absurd levels.  I know the fanboys are certainly interested - and perhaps they have their own site on which to speculate if its gold or platinum.  Simply absurd. There's another world out there.

iGolden iMagic from iCheap tin-can.
Can't wait,
We are only 9 999 999 iArticles away from this masterpiece

In other rumors, Ballmer is building the world's first fully holographic house using only unsold leftover Surface RTs he has hidden away in his garage...
LongJ1
Very funny, iboy.
We all know that RT is useless toy-OS , even if it's  much better than toy-iOS.
But W8 is the future of the mobile PC(real), and Ballmer was the CEO at this great moment.
campgeek
Actually, the RT does have its place.  I grabbed a surface pro, which I love... though I will admit that it has some maturing to do.  My sister opted for a surface RT simply because it was a much better build than a cheap laptop, and she just needed it for email, web, MS Office, and some media stuff.  It turned out to be perfect for her.  With all the talk about there being no apps, there sure the heck is a lot of them.  Vary rarely have either of us ever gone searching for something that wasn't there.
ecmedic4
And what makes him an "iboy" for making a joke about ballmer and surface rt's? Your labeling of everyone "iboy" is stupid and immature. Need to grow up already

I look forward to my new iPhone. All this talk about a lack of innovation is annoying. The iPhone is a pretty mature product by now and I am not expecting massive innovation. Most of the innovations in the newest Samsung phone are either gimmicks that no one uses or features that don't work properly, Apple don't 'innovate' like that. The speculation about the finger print sensor in the home button could be huge, the finger print means identity and identity is key for a robust phone based payment system that consumers will feel comfortable using and that payment companies will want to take on board.

@derekaw
Samsung innovate , iboy. Displays, SSD , battery, software , chipsets, wireless communications...........
I will not give my fingerprints to anyone.
Besides finger print sensor CAN NOT BE robust.
It's like Siri and Apples Maps. LOL
And I don't want somebody to cut my finger to use my money
sdipaola
um google now is the best voice system out there and keeps innovatiing ( rated B+ on speech recog when SIRI was rated D-), google maps keep innovating and is the best mapping ( I do not have to even mention where the apple maps sits), wacom made spen in the samsung note series which uses a wholeness new touch sensor  system that works seemlessly with the only one that all phones including iphones have capactise touch which can never really be accraute - the digitizer in the Wacom systems on Samsung is pixel accurate ( never misshit a link again) -it is a true innovation. It is this gesture, touch, voice interface group that makes the android high end phones way more innovative then the old iphone and its old metaphors.

I tell ya what, I hated the idea of a gold iPhone. The mock ups looked horrible. But if that champagne color is real, I will be getting it. That color looks really good especially the sides/top/bottom. I really hope they do away with 16 gigs as entry level and move up to 32/64/128, on phones and ipad
amir800
Where is the innovation?
Better camera? Every phone has a better camera than the previous.
Better CPU? While there are still plenty of new A5 devices as the iPad 2, mini and older iPhones, most developers will still continue to aim for this level of performance.
More colors? - The moto x just nailed it
The fingerprint scanner is nice but who really needs it?

LongJ1
@amir800
fingerprint scanner can not be accurate  in next 10 years .
Even then, I don't want somebody to cut my finger

Every so called leak about Apple products have been carefully planned/manipulated by Apple to generate maximum hype, no exception, including the faked lawsuit. Steve Jobs once said that the best way to keep people interested is to keep something secretive. Apple's so called secrecy is mainly intended to produce maximum hype!

You can email me to get the proof that these leaks are created by Apple!

I'm going to laugh so, so much if/when some of the rumors end up being completely false despite being reported hundreds of times.
Gedge2000
@-duckwithnukes- I have to chuckle too. And state that "apple is on the ropes" (LOL) because my samnokiarola phone blows it away (LOL).
