Summary HANOI: Ahead of Chinese president Xi Jinping's trip to India on Wednesday, Vietnam and India on Monday agreed that the "freedom of navigation in the East Sea/South China Sea" should not be impeded, called upon the parties concerned to exercise restraint, avoid any threat or use of force and resolve all disputes peacefully. India also signed a letter of intent with Vietnam on Monday with PetroVietnam offering two new blocks in the South China Sea to ONGC Videsh Limited for oil and gas exploration and production. "OVL is keen to expand its presence in Vietnam and is evaluating the blocks on offer," said the text of the letter of intent.
