The most selective colleges in America

Rejection isn't easy. But when it comes to applying to the top universities in the U.S., only a small percentage of applicants get that coveted acceptance letter.
StartClass, a higher education research site, examined data from the U.S. Department of Education, which produced a list of schools that admitted only 16 percent of applicants or fewer during 2014-2015. Yeah, that's a lot of disappointed seniors.
The schools are scattered throughout the country and include schools such as Rice, Yale, Julliard and the U.S. Naval Academy, which only accepts 7.9 percent of applicants.
