Grace Poe excelled in the first debate according to hard-nosed political analysts like Ellen Tordesillas, Ramon Ramon Casiple, the Rappler Panel, Teddy Locsin, Vera Files, etc. But the presidency is not just about debating skills. It is about character, heart, a fighting heart and a compassionate heart, coolness under fire and the innate intellect to be both a good student and sharer of knowledge. A leader is one who has the capacity to decide deliberately and quickly what is for the common good. And not freeze under stress or engage in endless analysis. That decision making quality is something that is inborn and cannot be forged by years of apprenticeship. Either you have it or you don't. The DQ case has been her crucible and we see her still standing, fighting and swinging the way a true leader should, where others would have wilted in the face of such terrible storm. There is no doubt in my mind that with God's blessings, she will be a great President, to lead and inspire the Filipino people through both opportunity and adversity, to heights we've never reached before. Thank you Tony La Viña for the enlightening views.
