Oceanographic Research Allegedly Conduct By China On Scarborough Shoal’s Seabed
Filipino fishermen said that China was allegedly conducting an oceanographic research on the seabed of Scarborough Shoal.
Fishermen have to leave their fishing vessels and transfer to a small service boat to enter the Scarborough shoal at the back, where no Chinese Coast Guard can be found. The disputed territories have a calm water compared to some areas of the sea.
A certain fisherman named Bodog Lebios, Sr., noticed that the sea level is getting deeper and deeper due to Giant Chinese Vessels who continues to do multiple hauling of giant clams inside the Scarborough Shoal.
While the Filipino fishermen sneaking catching fishes in the shoal, China continued their multiple hauling of giant oyster, which is considered as endangered species. Bodog said that Chinese vessels were full of giant oysters. This is the same activity of Chinese vessels in the most parts of Spratly Islands.Also, an aircraft of Philippine Navy was seen by the fishermen roaming on Scarborough Shoal but the aircraft leave the Filipino fishermen in the hand of Chinese Coast Guard. The entrance to the shoal was guarded by Chinese Coast Guard and their small rubber boats were ready to drive away for any foreign boats who will attempt to enter the disputed waters.
Aside from Chinese Coast Guard that continues to monitor the area, two fishing vessels were also seen by the fishermen that were accompanied by China. The sources thought that it was commercial fishing vessels but they haven’t see the vessel catching fishes.
The sources also think that China was allegedly started to conduct an oceanographic research on the seabed of Scarborough Shoal. Filipino fishermen will return with a little catch of fish due to restriction on the shoal. The fishermen said that they will grab the opportunity to catch fish on the shoal while they were still allowed to enter the area.
