How popular is Charice in the States?

I asked a friend based in the New York-New Jersey area how popular is Charice in the States and this was the reply:

I can say she is more popular here in USA than in the Philippines. I was one of the lucky ones to watch her live sing duet with Celine Dion in the Madison Square Garden last year and most of the people in the area where we were seated were all Caucasians and a black couple beside me and I was the only Filipino in that group and before the concert I could hear everyone else talking about the little girl they saw on the Oprah show who will be singing with Celine in that concert. The black couple beside me told me that they only came to watch the show because they want to see Charice perform live after they saw her on Oprah show too. Then a commotion on the crowd before the concert and all I saw all camera flashes and then a group of cameramen from NBC and Oprah show was following Charice the moment she entered the arena, and you could hear the crowd clapping and calling her name when she walked in and she was escorted by about 10 bodyguards to where she was assigned to sit, if I am not mistaken she was on the second row as I was in the 9th or 10th row. Of course not far behind her was the Gurfinkel couple. Then I saw Gayle King, Oprah bestfriend went to hug and kiss her before the show started. The concert of Celine was kind of boring but after the intermission and the last part of the concert and when Celine introduced Charice , the crowd went wild and the moment Charice sang the first note of the song Because You love Me, people just started weeping and clapping and screaming, the crowd loved her so much, it was non-stop applause the moment she started singing and simultaneously people just gave her a standing ovation at the start of her song up to the end. It was the loudest cheer I have heard in all the live concerts I have watched here in NYC. I was really proud to be a Filipino that night. I had goosebumps all over...it was so unbelievable her charisma with American audience. Then what I have noticed, after Charice's song with Celine, which was the highlight of the concert, people just started going out without finishing the last 2 songs of Celine.Same thing happened when she guested in Good Morning America, people and paparazzi just mobbed her. Also, on the Thanksgiving Day parade, she was also mobbed after she sang and it was even freezing 37 degrees that morning. It is really a different experience watching her sing live here with a full orchestra and band, her voice sound so big and Celine was right, she blew off the Madison Square Garden roof that night.
