Flashback, first multicabs in MetroManila, brought by Roilo Golez. 1995

Flashback, 1995. Multicabs used to be mostly in Cebu only, but not in Metro Manila. Records show that Multicabs first arrived in Metro Manila when they were brought by then Cong. Roilo Golez in March 1995 as part of his congressional projects to provide mobility to Paranaque's 16 barangays and SKs. He saw the multicabs during his earlier visits to Cebu and noted they were ideal for Paranaque use. He had to go to Cebu to talk to the top management of Norkis Trading (Quisumbing family) to appeal to give him priority for the early release of more than 30 units of Multicabs. When the other congressmen saw the multicabs and how it was easy for these vehicles to penetrate narrow streets especially in the so-called depressed areas, they also ordered those vehicles and the multicab spread like mushrooms all over and have become iconic in Luzon. Prior to that, Golez ordered from his congressional development fund (CDF) ANFRA vehicles from Francisco Motors for barangay and school use. But the ANFRAS were much bigger and more expensive (more than double the price) compared to multicabs. Some of the ANFRAS have survived until now.
